PONS IP, with the support of our training division, the PONS Business School and the collaboration of the RCC at Harvard University, has announced the launch of the first Summer Course on web3, Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Computing. These three technologies are grouped together in a new concept that the course calls “WAIQ”. This four-day executive training programme will take place the last week of July at the prestigious Harvard Law School with its main campus in Cambridge (Boston, Massachusetts). Due to the size, complexity, cross-disciplinary nature and comprehensive scope of the content, the WAIQ programme is the world’s first programme that combines the technological, legal and ethical perspective within a single global training programme about these disruptive technologies.

The ground-breaking global programme has been promoted by the Strategic Counsellor of the PONS IP consulting firm, Luis Ignacio Vicente del Olmo, who also acts as the co-director of the programme together with José Luis Amat. The programme is intended for innovators, engineers, legal professionals and executives interested in exploring the intersection between technology and law in order to gain a comprehensive understanding of the impact of “WAIQ” technologies from a technological, legal and ethical perspective. Together with the theoretical content, the programme includes practical cases and parallel activities including a visit to the MIT Nanotechnology Laboratory.

Luis Ignacio Vicente, noted that this Summer Course “is a unique opportunity for experts in technologies, legal experts and specialists in ethics to debate with students about the current situation and the legal and ethical challenges of these WAIQ technologies. Forty students will be selected from Europe and the United States, including company leaders and executives in charge of legal and innovation departments in companies and institutions so they can acquire the knowledge and skills required to be effective leaders during these times of uncertainty and ongoing change that we are experiencing. WAIQ technologies present numerous challenges and questions, but also enormous opportunities for companies to improve their competitive edge. Having the opportunity to do it one of the world’s most renowned universities with a group of top tier global experts is the best letter of introduction for this first edition ”, concluded the director of the training programme.

Extensive institutional support and 15 top tier professionals: the added value of the Course

The programme is sponsored by several international law firms including ArentFox Schiff, as well as IONQ, a leading company in quantum computing, and PONS IP, a leading global consulting firm offering comprehensive advice on matters related to industrial and intellectual property and new technologies. Over the course of four days, training sessions will be led by a select set of 15 renowned Spanish and international experts from leading global entities on disruptive technologies such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard Law School as well as companies such as QCentroid, Multiverse Computing, Hugging Face, Iberdrola and Telefónica, among others. The training session will also feature the participation of experts from internationally renowned Spanish firms such as Garrigues, Uría Menéndez and Grant Thornton.
