PONS IP is taking part in the book entitled Legal Aspects of the Metaverse

Share the news:

Starting Monday Legal Aspects of the Metaverse will officially be one of the first handbooks about the legal aspects of the metaverse and the associated technologies available in Spain and worldwide. Once again, with this publication PONS IP has managed to position itself as a benchmark in the knowledge, analysis and studies intimately linked to legal innovation by addressing highly relevant questions for the future of the sector including the development of the web 3.0 and blockchain technology applied to industrial and intellectual property.

Published by Wolters Kluwer España, the global leader in information, training and software solutions for legal professionals, and coordinated by our Strategic Director Luis Ignacio Vicente del Olmo together with José Luis Amat Reinoso, the book starts with a prologue from the former Spanish State Attorney General Eduardo Torres-Dulce and an informative chapter written by leading technology experts in the field about what the metaverse is, who the key actors are, what the underlying technologies are, and the possible business models. Later, renowned legal scholars, such as Miquel Roca i Junyent, one of the fathers of the Spanish Constitution, and specialized attorneys with extensive experience in subjects such as privacy, industrial and intellectual property, intermediary liability, personal and company law and even the judiciary itself, take on the challenge of interpreting how the metaverse will impact the current legal system.

As an educational aid, this book provides an overview of the current legal treatment of different aspects related to new technologies and what lies ahead in the future. The book will be useful for both highly experienced professionals as well as for students of law and new technologies. Our fundamental values, including democracy and freedom, must endure in these new digital environments. Furthermore, legal regulations, in aspects such as personal law and industrial and intellectual property law, must continue to adapt to be drivers of innovation, progress and social well-being. The technology and legal experts at PONS IP, together with other renowned law firms and legal counsels from important companies including Telefónica who have contributed to this book, offer a proposal to ensure this situation in the metaverse, to improve it if possible and thus aim to give to the next generation what we ourselves found, something better than what came before.

In addition to Luis Ignacio, four colleagues from PONS IP were included as authors Estrella Arana, Violeta Arnaiz Medina, Jose Carlos Erdozain and Carmen González Candela, along with renowned legal scholars Almudena Asensio, Natalia Almeida Babolin, Oscar Casado Oliva, Ignacio González, Carlos Kuchkovsky, Antonio López-Carrasco, Roberto Martínez, Joaquim Matinero Tor, Cristina Mesa, José Luis Núñez, Fernando Reinoso-Barbero, Fernando Reinoso Martínez, Joan Roca Sagarra, Miquel Roca, Carmen Santo, Ismael Simón Moreno and Eduardo Torres-Dulce.
