Starting next Thursday, April 11, Madrid will have its own domain extension (.madrid) With the new domain, you will be able to protect and improve your brand positioning on Internet; an additional option to take into account if you own brands with a commercial interest in the Community of Madrid.
On April 11, Public Administrations with jurisdiction or legal seat in the Community of Madrid will be able to request this domain.
From July 16, 2019, the next stage begins for those who have the following:
• Category 1: Sunrise stage, for TMCH validated brands.
• Category 2: For trademarks valid in Spain (SPTO, EUIPO, WIPO with ES) and for designations of origin.
• Category 3: For local entities with a registered office in the Community of Madrid, Corporations and Non-Profit Organizations.
• Category 4: Landrush stage, with free registration; in case two requests for the same domain are found, a final bidding will be carried out.
Since October 10, 2019, any individual will be able to register any name as a domain name based on the “first come, first served” principle, provided that it is available.
