The COTEC Foundation for Innovation has published the document ‘Commitments to Privacy and Digital Ethics’ that aims to serve as a basis for organizations to transform policies on privacy management and the ethical use of data.

The document includes a series of commitments to guarantee the privacy of client and user data among Spanish organizations. Public and private organizations that are part of COTEC such as CaixaBank, Telefónica, Gijón City Council, Government of La Rioja, Pfizer, Agbar, Iberdola, Plastic Energy, Fundación Ramón Areces, Arquimea Group, Government of Navarra, Mapfre, Orange, Primafrio, Instituto Valenciano de Competitividad Empresarial (Ivace), L’Òreal España, FI Group, Ayming, Instituto de Fomento de la Región de Murcia, Agencia para la Competitividad de la Empresa de Cataluña (Acció) and Fundación Corporación Tecnologíca de Andalucía (CTA) have already joined since its launch, together with PONS IP.

PONS IP’s adherence to the principles of this document strengthens the company’s commitment to information security, after recently being certified by Bureau Veritas to comply with the international standard ISO 27001, which guarantees maximum security in information management protocols.

The document ‘Commitments to Privacy and Digital Ethics,’ which can be downloaded here, includes the advance of new technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things or Big Data. According to the publication, adhesion ‘shall be interpreted as a demonstration of commitment and concern with the management of privacy from the ethical data management perspective by the participating entities. This shall promote society’s trust in data processing and its responsible use.’

These commitments emerged from the COTEC Working Group on Privacy and Ethics, whose objective is to analyze and propose a governance model that includes good practices in the management of private data. Trends, opportunities, challenges and responsibilities in the face of the challenge posed by privacy processing were studied and have been included in this document. Any organization interested in joining these commitments can apply by accessing the following form.
