Luis Ignacio Vicente, Strategic Advisor of PONS IP, Spain’s leading intellectual property consulting firm, was chosen as one of the 300 most relevant strategic industrial property leaders in the world.
Since 2009, the IAM Strategy 300 Global Leaders list has included leading business professionals from the private sector, consulting and other specialised service providers in the main industrial property markets in North America, Europe and Asia. As such, Luis Ignacio Vicente appears in a ranking that only includes seven Spanish professionals.
The magazine introduces its readers to the top professionals in the IP sector. PONS IP is recognised by Strategy 300 Global Leaders in this area for the second time, following its presence in the 300 IP Strategist ranking last October. This milestone is an example of the course that the company follows with the launch of the new Technological Innovation Consulting unit a few days ago, promoted by Nuria Marcos, General Manager of PONS IP, and the growth of the business in this activity over recent months. This data shows the ability of PONS IP to support the development of IP strategies as a key cornerstone of the global business strategy and drive innovation with top-level international clients during the last year.
With a career involving more than 30 years of experience leading one of the most notable internal IP offices in Spain’s telecommunications sector such as Telefónica, Luis Ignacio Vicente is recognised once again for his line of work. His background includes his contribution to more than 500 international R&D&I projects, managing an extensive patent and trademark portfolio and a total annual R&D budget of more than 1 billion euros, all while working with global partners from Europe, South America, the USA and Asia. In addition, Luis Ignacio has worked as a Member of the Board of Directors and Chief Innovation Officer at ASTI, currently the Mobile Robotics branch of ABB.
Luis Ignacio, an expert in IP management in the digital world, is specialised in fields such as SEPs, telecommunications, software development, Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Computing, covering the entire innovation cycle from conception to IP valorisation (financing, licensing strategies) and including open innovation initiatives (M&A, R&D consortia, etc.). The Strategic Advisor of PONS IP holds a PhD in Physics, an Industrial Engineering degree, a degree in Innovation Management, a degree in Telecommunications Economics, a Master’s degree in Science and Technology Analysis and Management, and a Diploma in European Communities. Since July 2023, Luis Ignacio has been the academic coordinator of the course on WAIQ technologies at Harvard.
He views his inclusion on this list as “more than just a personal recognition; it is an award for the results achieved by PONS IP Consulting activities in recent months and proof that we are on the right track in terms of industrial property as one of the best tools for managing technology and innovation in general”.
