INTA 2019

The annual INTA (International Trademark Association), meeting is the largest and most influential gathering of trademark owners and Intellectual Property professionals from around the world and related to all industries.

As every year, PONS IP will participate in INTA 141st edition, which this year will take place in Boston Massachusetts, from May 18 to 22, 2019. INTA is undoubtedly the most relevant international meeting on Intellectual Property, where international professionals and authorities from the sector will share knowledge, conferences, and numerous multilateral encounters during those five days. Around 10,000 professionals from more than 150 countries have registered for INTA 2019, under which more than 300 specialized training sessions have been scheduled.

As always, our main objective for Boston will be to strengthen the collaboration with our trusted associates network, as well as to contribute to international business development, in order to continue offering our clients excellent protection and defense worldwide.

In addition, our colleague, Ana Gómez Sanchez, from PONS IP International Relations department will actively participate this year in the Table Topics, sessions in which issues of interest will be discussed with leading professionals from the sector:

  • “Grey Markets and Daigou Channels: Risks and Opportunities for the Brand Reputation”
  • “eSports: Lack of IP Protection and Best Practices in a Fast Growing Industry”

Once more, our Director of International Relations, Isabel Cortés, will participate in the Harmonization of Trademark Law and Practice Committee as itsTask group leader.

ISABEL CORTÉS. Head of International Legal Affairs

With over 23 years of experience in the Intellectual Property field, Isabel worked as an intern for the European Commission. She also has a long history with academia; being Director and faculty member for: the Intellectual Property and New Technologies Master’s given at Rey Juan Carlos University and the PONS Foundation, the Intellectual Property course given at the Bar Association of Madrid, the Intellectual Property Master’s at Comillas Pontifical University, among others.She is included in The World’s Leading Trademark Professionals 1000 2017.

PATRICIA GARCÍA KÖTHENBÜRGER. International Legal Affairs Department

She has over 12 years’ experience in the international division within companies operating in several sectors. Coordination and sales management at European level with special emphasis on German and Eastern European markets.

She speaks Spanish, German, English, Italian, French and she is currently studying in Chinese.

ANA GÓMEZ SANCHEZ. International Legal Affairs Department

Degree in Economics from Universidad Complutense of Madrid, specialized in International Economics. MBA in International Business Management from Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo and Center for Economic and Commercial Studies.

She began her professional career in the international trade field more than six years ago, managing and taking part in international projects related to financial, technological and consumer sectors. Her experience is focused on both the establishment of companies in international markets and on the opening of new markets.

JUAN CAMILO AMAYA. Deputy Director of the Colombia Office / Attorney

His professional activity has been focused on the Intellectual Property (IP) field, advising national and foreign companies from Colombia and North, Central and South America on the protection of their intangible assets. His professional competencies refer to distinguishing signs, new creations and copyrights, which enable him to perform as a comprehensive Intellectual Property rights adviser for large companies, with a wide portfolio of IP assets.

He has experience in business planning identification and assessment related to intangible assets, and drives the strategy on collaboration agreements and legal actions related to the enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights.
